Meta tags - don't submit URL to search engines without them.
What are meta tags importance and why do you need them.
meta tags are informative information about your web page or site only.
Some webmasters say you don't need meta tags, I disagree, some search engines still index meta tag information.

Some websites being submitted have interesting content, however I have noticed that some webmasters neglect their meta tags
and fail to adhere to best practice search engine optimizing their websites.
Only specialized search indexing robots ( webots ), spiders and crawlers generally access meta tag information.
( You can view this information about most websites ( using Microsoft internet explorer ) by selecting View on
your toolbar then selecting source when you are visiting a website.) If you imagine it as a page behind the page.
Meta tags assist the robots to index your site and allows your website to be appropriately listed in a search engine.

Description - Briefly describe your site using about a hundred characters, would be descriptive about what your web page is about.
Keywords - Words that are used frequently in your webpage. Don't use the word free and be cautious of including poison keywords.
Robots - If you want all of your websites pages indexed use "index, follow" , There are other variations of this command.
Revisit after - How often do you update your site ? weekly, fortnightly, monthly. Do not put 1 days, search engines will visit your site
as often as the crawler requires information about your updates. Some crawlers visit popular news sites with lots of updates hourly.
Distribution - Is your webpage country specific or only intended for a regional or local market or is it suitable for global distribution ?
Author - In the same format as above. Apparently this can assist your ranking.
Copyright - Does your page require copyright ?
Various programs exist for meta tag generation on the net. Search for - meta tag generator free - using your favorite search engine.
Every time you change your web page content you should update your meta tags.
You can also check your meta tags using the various programs on the net.
